2016 Tourniquet Project

Our Goal:

To grant 500 tourniquets by the end of the year to police officers who are in need of one.

How You Can Help:

With every $30 gift, Spirit of Blue will grant one C-A-T Tourniquet from North American Rescue between now and the end of the year.

Importance of Tourniquets?

Battlefield statistics from the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan have proven that the leading cause of preventable death in combat has been uncontrolled extremity hemorrhaging. The single most effective tool in addressing those wounds has been the windlass tourniquet, which according to the U.S. Military is responsible for saving more lives of today’s service members than any other piece of medical equipment. As a result the C-A-T Tourniquet has become the standard issue tourniquet of the U.S. Army. While police officers have access to bullet resistant ballistic armor which protects their torso, the majority do not have access to a tourniquet for them to address their own potential extremity wounds or that of a fellow officer.
